Mother, Mother with Cavetown and Meet Me At the Alter
See my earlier post, Concert Fun, to learn more before reading this.
My friend had an extra ticket to this show. I knew a few songs by Mother, Mother and liked them. When she asked me to go, I said sure. It was at Gallagher Square at Petco Park. It’s the Park at the Park. The San Diego Padres play at Petco. I believe it is on the smaller side for a baseball stadium, it is a great stadium. It is located downtown in East Village. We really have the outdoor venues down. Some many things are outdoors and open-air in San Diego. We have mild weather, with it rarely too cold or too hot, and it barely rains. Where Petco Park seats 42,000, Gallagher Square is small with mostly standing room. It allows for concerts to be intimate in such a large venue. For me, that is important. I feel if I were a musician, I would want to play venues on the smaller side, just as I prefer to go to shows at smaller venues.
I had already agreed to go see Mother, Mother. Then I was asked to go to the Padres game earlier that day. That made it a busy but easy day. I stayed at the ballpark all day for both activities. The Padres lost something awful that day. That shouldn’t surprise you if you know anything about sports in San Diego.
My friend, M., is notorious for being late. She had the tickets. We missed the first band, Meet Me At The Alter. She transferred me my ticket, so I was able to go in and see Cavetown. They were not for me. They weren’t bad but it was just a little too young, the whole performance and everything. There was some weird frog-thing. I didn’t really get it. Maybe it was supposed to be witty and comedic. I wasn’t laughing.
M. and her boyfriend got there just in time to see Mother, Mother. They were a good band. Interactive with the crowd. They played well and played their hits. I was happy I went and had a good time. I don’t really have much to say, other than that.
