Pink with The Script and Sheryl Crow
I’m not a huge Pink fan. She is too pop for me. Everyone talks about the acrobatics at her shows. When my friend had mentioned that she had an extra ticket, I decided to take her up on it. I wanted to see the performance. The concert was at Petco Park, where the San Diego Padres play. It is not the biggest baseball stadium, but it still is a baseball stadium, hence, huge. We didn’t have very good seats and were all the way up on the third deck. It was really challenging to see what was happening on the stage and we need to watch the enormous screens to see what was going on. It’s not the best way to enjoy a show but some big shows necessitate that.
I didn’t know who the first opener was, The Script. There was one song that they played that I recognized.
Next was Sherly Crow. I was more looking forward to seeing her than Pink. Her first album holds a bunch of memories from when I was younger. I have liked a few songs of hers since then, as well. I enjoyed her set. Sheryl Crow had this very chic blonde bob. The haircut looked great on her. She looked great and is 62 years old. I would have never looked that up, if she didn’t make some comment about what could happen at her age. I feel she would be a great show in a much smaller, intimate venue. After 30 years of writing and playing music, she deserves a big stage, but I think she has more to offer the crowd.
Pink finally came on. I knew more of her songs than I thought I did, but I still didn’t know a lot. She did some acrobatics. The strength is impressive, and it is really cool that she likes to do all of that. However, it really steals something away from the music. Maybe there isn’t much there to the music, anyway, and she needs to add something.
There were lots of wardrobe changes throughout the show. Pink’s first outfit, the rhinestone bodysuit with then a rhinestone moto-style jacket to match were killer. I really liked her rhinestone skeleton bodysuit, as well.
She was pretty funny, talking to the crowd, telling stories about her children and what it’s like to be a mom. She had a handful of background singers that when she did her tricks, they kept the song going. She was definitely singing and there was no lip synching, but she doesn’t sing while doing the bulk of the acrobatics.
All in all, I am glad that I went. Nevertheless, I am okay with that being the one and only time that I see Pink in concert.
